Architecture as Art
Exhibition at Hangar Bicocca, Triennale di Milano.
From 2 April to 12 September 2016.
We think “Art as Architecture” is a great opportunity to create an exhibition that embodies our working methodology. Rather than displaying a representation a building we designed thousands kilometres away, we want to create a manifesto of our approach in the use of generic materials, adaptation of traditional construction techniques and creation of strong spatial experiences.
Our project is a 4.5m x 4.5m pavilion composed by two basic forms and made with materials we already have installed in our projects:
-a concrete block we developed for a hospital in Angdong (Hunan, PRC)
-a generic ornamental silver tile we used to cover entirely our school project in Mulan (Guangdong, PRC).
The aim of this proposal is to spatially translate two aspects of our work and the dialogue in between. We think that the sequence of three spaces, created by the opposition of the two volumes, can be a very interesting way to talk about our projects.
