Clinicaurbana
Architecture office and flexible space
A number of old shops and storage spaces are put together to form Clinicaurbana’s headquarters. The bad conditions of flooring and walls, compromised by water ingress, are the main issue. One device is designed to solve this issue both architecturally and technically. The polished concrete monolithic slab raises the internal level above the street and the existing floor, while also hosting the heating and plumbing installations. The gap between the slabs’ edge and the walls measures the distance between the project and the existing condition.
One unique space is divided into two portions by the central service core. The area facing the more intimate back garden accommodates the workstations and the kitchen. The kitchen is made out of a modified industrial worktop where flippable cookers and a sink are installed. The more flexible space facing the street keeps a public function, and communicates with the outside through two large shop windows.
The electrical cabling is arranged inside industrial galvanised metal pipes, thus avoiding to break the brick walls. The services and power supply used for events, photo shoots and appliances runs along the gap between the floor and the walls.
