Les Marches
This year, 85 Marches have been arranged freely on the beach of La Quinzaine des Réalisateurs.
Radically aesthetic, this modular system forms a super comfortable plan to welcome the cinema world on the Croisette.
smarin is a French design house founded in 2003 by Stéphanie Marin, a renowned designer celebrated for the Livingstones, the pebble cushions.
smarin designs, develops and produces accessible and sustainable projects including textile, furniture, set design and space planning.
Specializing in high-end furniture, all manufactured in its own workshop in Nice, smarin is constantly developing new items.
The smarin products are distributed worldwide. The heart of the concept of the studio is to research and offer products made from natural and durable materials.
Les Marches are simple objects, flexible and surprising.
They look like blocks of raw concrete and arranged together, they form installations where the evidence is to take a seat comfortably.
Their arrangement is free, allowing both to deconstruct the decor or, contrary, to define flexible arenas, squares or staircases soft to the touch.
Last born in smarin, the outdoor furniture «Les Marches» has been designed and developed in collaboration with the contemporary artist Céleste Boursier-Mougenot, on the occasion of his two last exhibitions :
rêvolutions, presented to the French Pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale, and
acquaalta at Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
Les Marches find naturally their place in Cannes, where la Quinzaine des Réalisateurs makes its wink of it.
Les Marches could be mistaken for common raw concrete blocks.
Their original design serves is based on an infinite number of possible assemblies, resulting in classic looking stairs, yet surprisingly soft to the body.
Furniture both discrete, intriguing, revealing the possibility of comfort and a sculptural scenography, designed to be part of a whole, of a landscape to inhabit.
Installation of Les Marches adapts to any environment, from housing to the great architectural project.
They form arrangements with variable shapes and a comfort.
Born in museums in an artistic mind, they are perfect for chatting, relaxing, working and meeting, and for display installations.
The materials are chosen with great care for their natural qualities.
Made of polyurethane foam with a smooth surface and latex paint finish. Innovative in their design, they are 100% recyclable, fabricated with non-toxic materials easily applicable for indoor or outdoor use.
They are easy to handle, each section weighting between 10 kg and 14 kg.
And the installation is accomplished within minutes.
