Hotel Puerta América, Reception Desk and Meeting Rooms
The Hotel Silken Puerta América in Madrid is an innovative project that involved numerous architects and designers. John Pawson designed the reception desk and meeting rooms.
With 950 m2, John Pawson has achieved an impressive space using a limited range of materials, wood being the principal material for the reception desks.
As you enter the hotel, there is foyer. Hidden behind a wooden panel are the reception desk and the lifts. The small opening reserved for the reception desk serves to reinforce the feeling of space continuity. The aim of the wood is to create the feeling of openness. The meeting rooms have the same characteristics and have an exit to the outdoor terrace. This open space can accommodate up to 1000 peopone in one single event.
