JUANALALOCA RESTAURANT
Juanalaloca is a popular establishment in the La Latina neighborhood of Madrid.
Juanalaloca is a popular establishment in the La Latina neighborhood of Madrid. In business since early 2000, it is known for the exquisite pintxos – traditional Basque tapas served on long toothpicks – and its cheerful, bustling atmosphere. In one of the most traditionally old-world Spanish areas of the city, Juanalaloca is an oasis in the desert: sophisticated without losing its distinct personality. This revolutionary spirit in the bar stimulated the design team to go the extra mile in their renovation.
A black and white checkerboard floor also stretches up to the walls via gold metallic tubes that hold the lighting fixtures. The existing bar has been covered with a textured metallic coating, as has a new structure housing a wine rack above and around the perimeter of the bar. As a final touch, a soft, textile-look material with sound absorption qualities covers the walls and ceiling. The singular and chic look of the redesigned Juanalaloca are in these materials, and the details.
