AW APARTMENT
Unlike most of the interior reform apartments that we generally project in our office, where the interior layout and use of space is completely rethought, in this apartmenr located in the district of Pedralbes in Barcelona we find an exceptional case where the original distribution already met many of the requirements of the owner, of foreign origin.
The reform focuses particularly on the day area, where, with the desire to have large spaces, we choose to open the kitchen, very generous in dimensions, to the living room, creating a set of more than 70 m2 and allowing this area to connect the two sides of the building, front-back.
The kitchen is not just a kitchen, is another part of the furniture in the living room, it is an object designed to be elegant, stylish and noble, so the use of black basalt for the counter blends perfectly with the coating oak with matte finish. The kitchen cabinets are confused with the same wood paneling, to further distance the image of a conventional kitchen. The oak has continuity in the hall, creating the sensation of fluid and continuous spaces, which is emphasized by the jalousie, also made of oak, closing the hall space. They hide, but also insinuate, what happens behind, creating a suggestive play of light and shadows.
The wood floor, also made of oak, seeks to limit the color spectrum of the housing, while attempting to give it a warmth feeling that is enhanced by the use of LED light strips, bathing the wood surfaces.
In contrast to these elements, the great white lacquered library becomes an explosion of light, multiplying that that comes from the large windows of the room.
This is an intervention that is intended timeless, with the intention that within 10 years will still look contemporary.
