LT PENTHOUSE
Comprehensive reform of this duplex apartment in Barcelona has a number of special features that largely define the final result:
1.The initial state of housing, very deteriorated.
2.The client, a Danish national.
3.The quality level demanded very high.
4.The program needs, as with an interior of approximately 150 m2 floorspace only one bedroom is requested.
5.The only customer requirement is the installation of a large hot tub on the deck and a garden with planting trees.
6.The main problem of the access directly from the elevator.
The proposal is the creation of linked spaces, without dividers, pivoting around the patio light.
The relocation of the internal staircase allows to provide broader access to the lobby from the elevator, very critical in its initial state being only 80 cm wide. The demolition of the floor that connects being on the top floor with bathroom (located directly above the entrance hall) and its replacement by a glass walkway, allows the perception of space is even greater, in turning this hall into a space double height.
The felling of the facade of the living room on the lower floor allows a direct relationship with its terrace, which is magnified with the construction of a large platform prior to external output dimensions.
The position of the kitchen, open to the room, but with its own clearly defined, along with the selected materials (lacquered aluminum basalt and granite Zimbabwe) allow reading of it as an element of furniture space.
The relationship of the living room above the garden, with large openings that allow the space is riding an interior space and a porch, allows an easy transition to outdoor spaces, which are segregated into two, one private where the hot tub is located next to the interior patio, and one audience with street facade.
The creation of a large slope with ascending slope, allows the planting of trees and vegetation, thereby blunting the impact of the dividing wall of the neighboring building.
The pavement outside ipe and lighting of these outdoor spaces allow dialogue and spatial continuity with the interior spaces, giving the whole an image of unity.
exterior carpentry of iroko, oak interior and exterior flooring of ipe, walnut paneling and careful lighting (with a mix of flush LED lights continuous and spot lighting) can provide space great comfort.
