This year’s exhibition stand for Artek, designed by Kuehn Malvezzi, displays the history and production methods of molded plywood alongside the company’s collections. Visitors enter a coloured maze where historical and contemporary technologies are shown. Artek’s pieces—starting from the Bouroullecs’ Kaari collection, followed by the Kiki and Alvar Aalto collections—are exhibited in three individual rooms, inserted as white inlays in the blue field.
Lighting is used to separate these different, yet complementary themes. Very bright neon lights draw attention to the collection rooms, while softer, but still homogenous lighting will be used for the labyrinth through the wood bending exhibits.
