Dame un Beso
The crystal-clear space escapes the possibility of becoming a palimpsest. Sign and object are one and the same: a gallery exhibiting a gallery.
Light shines on to each moulding, fold, and piece of fuzz on the floor sharing the same room. A white tide flows into the Miranda Bosch gallery’s ground floor and the space emerges as object, idea and process. As if submerged into a metaphysical interface, its materiality shows up not because of its true substance, but because it is reflected.
The steadiness of the white cube, which Nicolás Fernández Sanz causes to vibrate and refresh, rebounds against the unsteadiness of the exterior. The fiction of the exhibition space, which looks like a 1:1 mock-up, defies the fluctuations and hesitations from the neighbourhood, the city, and the passers-by. The spiritless distance and cold stance are offset when the room calls for attention: give me a kiss, appearances are misleading.
