Kindergarten on a hill

Four Kindergarten units, each with their own set of workrooms and coatroom, are united in one building on a steep site, completing an existing elementary school campus. An additional fifth unit doubles as a multi-functional space for school gatherings.
Despite the steepness of the site, the project allows for direct access from each unit to the playground, liberating the internal corridor from its typical egress requirements. This inner zone is therefore regained as an additional informal play and learning area, offering generous spaces that can be softly clad and flexibly furnished. Together with the classrooms, it offers various scales and types of space to address the changing and diverse teaching methods, from the formal to the informal.
