Schneider Electric - New Nordic Headquarter
The idea is based on the building's material and structural potentials, as well as the tenant's functional needs. The case is particularly interesting as it addresses a problem of an existing building mass and typology from a time that seems monotonous and alienated today. A building stock that has to be taken care of across the whole country. Thus, this project is an example of the potential gain of a reconsideration of the suburb's industrial areas and office landscapes.
Between the two filigree wall constructions, planted trees are sunk into the existing installation floor. The 9 meter high “shelves" are made of Laminated veneer lumber. A material often used for fx. concealed roof constructions. Here it is exposed as a haptic element in the new Nordic headquarters of the international group Schneider Electric. Suspended screens for projection and acoustic panels allow many different activities to take place simultaneously. Building owners, landlords and advisors have collaborated pursuing the idea of creating an energy efficient and dynamic office building with an optimal framework for employees and customers.
