The combination of this concept with carrarra marble and the existing concrete structure gives a nice tension between smooth and rough, old and new. We made the structure of the concrete more visible by sandblasting it after demolition of the old interior. The new interior is set on a different grid as the original structure so the two interconnect throughout the whole design.
