Haukilahti Water Tower and Renovation
Originally built as part of the water supply infrastructure of the city of Espoo, the water tower also features a restaurant above the cisterns, with a 360-degree view of the surrounding coastal landscape. A pioneering feat of engineering in Finland, the outermost concrete shell of the cisterns was first cast in-situ on the ground, and then hoisted up to the final height level.
The building was comprehensively renovated in 2012, with repairs and updates done to the concrete structures, mechanical installations, building services and interior spaces. The restaurant, having lived through multiple changes over the years, was also fully modernized in the process.
