House in Zapallar
A house for family vacations, imbedded in a very steep rocky ground, placed downwards the street level directly at the sea shore, in front of the Pacific Ocean.
The project was conditioned by code´s constrictions that limited the building hight to 7m above the ground, its distance to the plot´s boundaries to 6m, and restricted its footprint to a small percentage of the site´s area, allowing a plan with several platforms placed at the upper part of the site between the street level and the high tide line.
The first platform beneath the street level and above the main floor contains a garage, the house entrance and the master bedroom. The living and dinning rooms, the kitchen and a partly roofed terrace are placed below. And four gest bedrooms with their bathrooms are in a basement floor.
All rooms enjoy excelent views over the powerful sea and its strong rocky shore, as well as plenty of sunlight and a direct access to exterior terraces that form a continuous landscape sequence.
The building is entirely made of exposed concrete, with a fine finishing and precise alignment attained through a peculiar building method of our own, consisting of prefabricating wall panels that integrate a rigid structural wire cage and lightweight plywood forms that are fastened directly to it.
