Palau Dels Osset Renovation
A project to redesign, renovate and enhance the Palau dels
Osset in Forcall, a palatial building dating from the late 16th
and early 17th century.
With this project the decision was
taken to create an establishment that could be a quality
tourist attraction in its own right. The architectural approach
has been to “gain maximum potential” from this palace and
“create a building that is worth visiting in its own right”.
The building follows the Aragonese Renaissance palace
style, built on four levels. The masonry façade is topped by a
typical gallery of arches, crowned with large wooden eaves
in the “Florentine” building tradition.
The palace was the subject of a previous renovation that
took place in 1997, transforming it into a hotel. The recent
renovation has reduced the number of guest rooms in order
to make them larger and more comfortable, and has created
a spa, sauna and relaxation zone within the hotel, making
use of the covered area.
The aim was to take a conservative approach to the aesthetics
of the Renaissance palace, using noble materials such
as iroko wood in the exterior carpentry, oak on the floors of
the bedrooms and some of the communal areas, and travertine
marble in the restaurant and entrance. Amongst the
most important interventions was the changing of the main
hotel access, which now leads directly off the beautiful
town square
