Apartment in Citylife neighborhood
Redesigning a mid-size apartment in Libsekind's blocks in Milan.
The apartment is on the 8th floor of one of Libeskind’ residential blocks laying in the park of Citylife new neighborhood. Due to new owner’s desire to increase the number of rooms, the developer left to modify the original interior lay-outs entirely.
Taking advantage of the apparent randomness of building shape, the final layout of the apartment results from de-composition and re-composition of alignments, adding new visual cones and reaching the goal of having the required number of rooms.
The geometric definition of surfaces results by the use of linear and thin construction elements. Materials and colors emphasize surface’s contrasts, between the dark of floors and wood wall panels, and the white and clear colors of walls, ceilings and stone coverings. In the middle of the range come the warm tones of gray, olive and dove of furniture and fabrics.
The architectural lights, recessed linear or spot led sources according to the occasion, gives their contribution to define geometries of spaces.
