This house, located in the nature reserve Ria Lagartos, can only be accessed by boat. Its design is based on a rational and for easy movement, in terms of structure as well as in terms of construction work, and it allows for a flexible project when it comes to distributing the space within the three dimensions of its box system which generates generous roof terraces. The result is a promenade that lets you discover the surrounding natural environment and the spaces of the house on different levels. The ecological design strategy was inspired by local customs, using mainly yucatec-style palapas and huts and could thus be realized by local workers. The solution here was achieved by further exploiting this strategy and covering the whole structure with a giant umbrella-like roof in order to provide shade and large roofed exterior spaces. This concept converts the house into a tool for exploring the site us- ing what seem to be the disadvantages of the context, like lack of infrastructure and services, in favor of the project and realizing that the natural environment is in the end the highest value of this concept titled Luxury Robinson Crusoe Experience.
