Great stadium
The challenge was to give this facility a
truly urban resonance.
The founding principle of the project was
to create a mass dissociated from the
ground, standing on a slightly sloping
paved square.
The outdoor areas are fully vegetalised
in order to reinforce the idea of an urban
park contiguous with the city. A peripheral
pedestrian base, linked to the
square and the park, houses a service
mezzanine containing most of the parking
spaces.
The stadium fits in like a sculpted volume
with well defined and precise ridges.
The translucent and reflective facades
make it possible to see what is happening
inside.
Structurally, a triangular sail envelops
the stadium, helping to support the weight
borne by the roof.
The curvature of the ground floor, as
well as the sloping surfaces of the outer
shell, ensure that the structure remains
a single entity, giving a lightness and a
feeling of volume floating over its environment.
The compactness of the project made
sure that the construction was on budget
and the lightness of the structure also
guaranteed durability. This work corresponds
to FIFA norms.
