Fishermen's Storehouses in Afurada
Complies with the implementation of the Afurada Master Plan, this new Fishermen’s Storehouses replaces the old and obsolete ones. The Fishermen’s Storehouses are divided into five sets, with an extra area for future expansion.
Each block produces high visibility of the steel structure, looking like the boxes of wood and polycarbonate were placed as drawers. The nuanced texture of these boxes reside on the combination of two materials, wood and polycarbonate, which respectively express the functions of shelter and natural lighting. This skin, never shows a pattern, contrary to the formal repetition of the volumes.
The flat roof, because of its visibility, was seen as a "fifth" facade. Here we use again two materials - polycarbonate and zinc - which again relate the functions of shelter and natural lighting.
This choice of materials also presents the advantage use of "dry construction". The structure can be built in a workshop and assembled on site. The panels of the facades can also be done in a carpentry workshop, getting the site ready to be assembled. The same philosophy is valid for the flat roof.
