BAAN CHAN
"A residential cape which frames panoramic scene of seascape as portraying images of everyday sunset"
“I wish to admire the sunset from here each and every day, this scenery must be appeared from the eyes of the ones from my private pool and from every room in my house”, this is the utterance of the German owner who expressed his feeling of his perspective as the photographer; he needs the space to fulfil these feelings.
“Baan Chan” the isolated villa beside Chanthaburi beach, is located on the precipice surrounded by mountains. The owner of this house desires to escape from the frigid winter in Germany and spend his time with his family at this peaceful villa. Furthermore, the owner intends to have his house built in the cement bunker style.
This villa is demanded to be constructed by using the forthrightly materials which require less maintenance and less artificial like a coated bare concrete and timber. Since this villa is located beside the sea in the rainy province like Chanthaburi, stronger window frames are used to resist strong wind. The power system of the house is properly embedded beneath the wall whilst the service section is also separated from the main part of the house.
Moreover, the main part is required to be engraved into the mountain. The hilltop is allocated to be the relaxation zone while the main parts including living room, kitchen, dining room, pool and terrace are all connected together. Consequently, the villa looks more gigantic since the space are expanded continuously by the panoramic seascape. Besides, the owner also demands for the design which allows family members to perceive the sunset in the evening as his own admiration. The second floor of the villa is equally divided into 3 bedrooms for the guests and the visitors. The quality of space and perspective are equivalent while the architectural elements such as walls, floors, and beams are directly and apparently emphasised. Another essence of this villa is the juncture which leads from the villa down to the private beach.
