Community School Anna Seghers
By participating in the Anna Seghers School in a nationwide pilot project for the development of community schools, a new building for the classrooms of elementary level class was indispensable. As the construction site derelict former school garden was tendered. We developed a characterful building, which follows the goal of a Community Learning Hoard and the claim of the maximum Erhaltes of trees the school garden. With varying class and group rooms, the two-storey building formed protectively around the south-facing, common schoolyard. So it defines on one side, an open space, on the other hand, it demarcates the transition from residential buildings. The varying openings offer of outdoor scenic insights into the learning and leisure areas of the children.
We developed a façade surface, which sounds out the boundaries between plaster crafts and artwork. By masking the last Egalisierungsanstriche a virtual materiality was achieved on the flat plaster facade. The traditional, artisanal and structurally bound working out different depths will be replaced by a texture. For this technique creates a bridge between the depth of the 17th century and modern methods Duck projections. The hole pattern in front of the opening wings of the window follow the instructions of the plaster. The interplay between smooth and rough plaster grits to achieve sense of scale to the adjacent residential buildings. The class and group rooms are characterized by a fine-grained, uniformly bright plaster surface and bright floors. They should be recorded creatively and allow students a concentrated learning in optimal lighting conditions. Through an acoustically transparent plaster this homogeneous design could also be applied to the ceiling, without compromising on good acoustics. Cupboards, wardrobes and Ankleidebänke hide behind doors and curtains perforated surprising color spaces. Following the color interplay, the corridors and staircases appear as spaces "between" the lessons consciously as a visual break between lessons in their fruity-yellow, shiny plaster surfaces. Pause benches, washbasins and window niches with the eventful perspective views make the breaks in the building to an exciting space adventure.
