Bomonti Brewery

Abbandoned in 1991, the factory has been matter of discussion for long time, until a regeneration process started and the brewary turn into a cultural district, designed by Han Tumertekin.
Founded in 1902 by the Swiss Bomonti brother, this beer factory enbodies the first modern beer production plant in the Ottoman Empire and keeps. Painted mustard yellow with exposed red brickwork, the building stands as a castle in the old periphery of Istanbul and, as new units were added, it became a popular place with beer-drinking society until the 50s.
