lorne house
A new holiday house at Lorne, west coast Victoria.
The site straddles a deep gully, with only a small building footprint close to the road possible.
This generated a design that focussed on the lush gully and distant ocean views, while providing privacy from the nearby street and neighbours.
The split plan locates a private parents bedroom and ensuite over the garage, only linked to the rest of the house by an enclosed bridge. This creates a private, sheltered entry deck on the ground level.
Generous balconies over the gully are the principal outdoor spaces on the very steep site.
A simple timber clad form designed to be sympathetic to its surrounds, it is a relaxed building designed for relaxation.
