In a modern world oriented towards digital information and e-books, the space for storing books in questioned as bookshelves are losing relevance. Furthermore, unlike informative books that can be re-read constantly, novels are usually read only once.
Following this we thought- why not give a book a second function?
Thus we worked on the concept of the book as an object that becomes material. Booken consists in a light wooden frame on which rest several wooden slats that echo the classic firm of the bookmark, moving parts on which you can hang books transform the library from vertical to horizontal element.
The name Booken came from the idea that the book becomes the constituent material of an object- i.e. a wooden shelf.
