The Deskbox is a practical small table/cabinet that is hung onto a wall and it is ideal for settings where there is little space available for furniture. Furthermore because the need for paper storage is fading as things are more and more digitalised, Deskbox is a small yet efficient sized work station. It can be retracted to form a closed box, half the size of the table top.
The Deskbox represents a new typology in Arco’s focus on tables, which is nowadays their area of specialization. It introduces a playful approach towards everyday products that we would usually take for granted.
The project originated from the project Arco Okay 2011, where along side our friends from Okay Studio we designed a breadbox with a bread knife that functions as the object’s handle, opening the box with a lifting movement. It is based on the parallel mechanism from earlier sewing boxes, which Arco used to produce a long time ago.
