Anyway the wind blows
A weather vane for the old bear castles in Korkeasaari
The world is turning upside-down, and we have lost any sense of direction. In the middle of Grey Cube Galleria I, we propose toinstall an instrument that measures the direction of the wind.
An apparently simplistic and playful installation is to be intended as humorous rather than fun. We think of Finland and the North, of population growth and migration, natural resource demand, climate change and globalization. We wish to build a big weather vane in the old bear castle, by the shore. It will talk to us in foreign languages, as currents, bodies of air become sounds — both are relational media.
We make an object as simple as a weather vane, and to our minds it becomes a rhetoric device, that makes us think.
