A Spider from Mars
A reportage by Gianni Galassi
Built in 1989 and designed by Italian architect Franco Palpacelli, the Vigna Murata piezometric tower in Rome was originally meant to be part of a wide compound, called "Scientific Water Park" which, as most projects in my disgraced Country, will never be completed. The tower itself was supposed to have a restaurant and terrace on its top, but it's actually used as a plain and simple water supply tank.
