The workshop 's objective is to propose new ideas to redevelop the spaces bordering the mole Antonelliana. One of these areas is occupied by parking rai , once theater Scribe .
It was originally called Teatro Scribe and was built in 1857 with a total capacity of 1,400 spectators . Together with Carignano and the nearby Royal , was one of the most important stages of the capital of the Kingdom of Sardinia . The decline occurred after 1865 , with the transfer of the highly contested role of capital first in Florence and then to Rome . Since then , the theater hosted only smaller events such as carnivals , carnival balls and occasional performances by amateur dramatic . In 1915 the Theatre Scribe became known mainly as the fore preferred companies dialect . However the destiny marked again the troubled history of the theater . Its proximity to the Military District of Via Verdi 16 and the nearby barracks of course San Maurizio , placed him at the center of Anglo-American bombing of 9 December 1942 , when it was hit by a bomb that ripped open , completely destroying the great hall , leaving standing only the outer walls and part of the foyer .
Based on a comprehensive analysis of the area, we noticed that Turin was made up of a dense network of blocks, homes. The area of the mole follows this structure . Analyzing the area we noticed the presence of barriers, fences that kept her imprisoned , forcing the passage only in the side streets . Our project proposal , even utopian , was to open all the borders of the area , making it a great place , usable and permeable.
The mole actually contain the museum of cinema. Our idea is to reinforce this concept by creating a district of cinema with outdoor screenings , exhibitions , history of modern cinema going to occupy the residual spaces in the area .
The former theater scribe has been redesigned in the dual role of public space and open-air amphitheater with a screening of the film on one side of the former left the theater.
