“G, como caído del cielo” – Out of the Blue
Description: This was a dramatic space for “G, como caído del cielo” (Out of the Blue) by ballerina and choreographer Christine Cloux. Winner of the Dramatic Arts 2006 for Best Dance Performance.
A structure was designed as the sole object that appeared in this interior performance, with a double function; on the one hand acting as a support for Christine Cloux while she danced suspended mid-air during the first half of the performance and on the other to minimise the performing space, as it delimited the volumes of air. The dancer then left this delimited space and completed the performance using the entire performing area.
The structure and ballerina worked in perfect harmony. The movements of the artist transmitted a series of vibrations against the frame, which then returned them in response, all of which defined the choreography.
This interior architecture project was mathematically calculated by the doctorate and engineer Carlos Lázaro so that it was guaranteed to perform and function correctly. He presented this as a practical example in his research project as “Analysis of a spatial flexible frame for the scenography of a dance performance using a geometrically exact rod model”, during a conference in Salzburg June 2005.
