CasaStudio manuarino
Studio Apartment manuarino. A living and working space derived from an underground garage.
Derived from a garage with three sides underground, the studio-apartment covers an area of about 65 square meters.
The internal condition is masked from the outside as much as possible by denying the relationship with the street and leaving the outside unchanged.
Who has never entered the apartment can not imagine what is inside. It appears in every way a garage, at least with the shutter closed.
The strong choice of obtaining an apartment from this space was dictated by the penalizing exposure to the north on the only side above ground, and from the desire to avoid a difficult relationship with the road.
The only way to achieve a good degree of livability inside was to open upward. Through a hole on the roof slab, the house opens up to the sky, the light, water, wind ... The height glazing on all sides overlooking the internal courtyard which, even though subtracting floor space, gives to the environment a livability otherwise unthinkable.
An architects office, but also a home for two. A plot of architectural experimentation that, with few resources, is able to take advantage of every opportunity to tell and design as much as possible.
The spaces are furnished with essential elements that tend to define architecturally the functional areas. In the living space shelves and also the desk top in OSB covering the walls throughout the length and over the entire height and define the space dedicated to the computers. The bathroom is covered in white Carrara marble that make up even the shower tray and the seat, in juxtaposition to the washbasin in teak stained oak. The interior floor is made of raw sheet steel, while the outer one is in Iroko wood.
The Capuchin stairs in the court serve the roof garden from where can be reached a beautiful view of the Bay of Naples.
