Institute for Research and Technology (IRT) Saint Exupéry
Clément Blanchet Architecture and his team reveals a project for the Institute for Research and Technology (IRT) Saint Exupéry in Toulouse. After being shortlisted 1st ex aequo at this international competition, a competitive dialogue phase has selected the local team Cardete Huet. The design proposes a new prototypical space that captures a certain aesthetic of science. We present this adaptable three dimensional infrastructure as an articulation between the campus and the city linear urban development (ZAC Montaudran).
The evolution of representations in the world today results in a considerable amount of hermetic objects to the city and public space. The IRT building tends to define new forms of transparency. The overall built envelop is perforated with skylights and air, generating new views, depths, and finally translate an institution open to the world and the future.
This structure, which opportunistically contains the maximum envelop of the site, welcomes 25,000 m² and can propose an almost infinite diversity through its skeleton. We reinterpret the boards of the Encyclopedia by recon ducting in our design a kind of "Report Table".
The three-dimensional frame promotes the free association of ideas via generous space, flexible, offering constant new programmatic relationships, allowing for open devices, multiple, scalable and productive by a robust structure, providing transparency and comfort.
Mixing experimental workshops, parking, laboratories, offices and non-affected areas to date involves a volume mixing the logic of sharing and exchange. Terraced gardens are like planting lines and form part of this structure. Interior and exterior merge since each of the programs constituting the building can appropriate the number of frames they need. These changes through time does not alter the overall integrity of the entity within the general invariants: an exoskeleton, patios, cores and corridors but will promote a total programmatic flexibility.
The project 's team is constituted of Clément Blanchet Architecture (mandatory) in collaboration with AUA, the engineers AUXITEC, OTCE, the economist COLLIN and acoustician ORYTHIE.
