DHUB. Barcelona Design Center
Designed by the studio, MBM Arquitectes, the building is a state-of-the-art facility in terms of features and sustainability. It has involved the renewal of 27,000 square metres of urban space, rendered accessible and congenial.
With 70% of the facility below street level, its impact on public areas is minimal.
The building has 25,000 square metres of serviceable space.
Dynamic, active and open to all the public.
Disseny Hub Barcelona will be the point of convergence for knowledge and culture. Activities open to the public. Exhibitions and all kinds of design-related activities for all ages.
It will be a generator of inspiration and training. Support for the design professional. A meeting point and hub of consultation and recognition of consolidated professionals and new talent.
Projection and creative entrepreneurship will be fostered. Support for business, innovation and a magnet for international companies.
Sustainability
The entire project prioritizes environmental quality and sustainability, attainable through a powerful system of energy sufficiency.
The Disseny Hub Barcelona building was awarded the highest possible sustainability rating (“A” grade), placing it among the most efficient buildings in the city in terms of energy distribution and consumption.
The certificate was issued by the ICAEN (Catalan Energy Institute), in compliance with “Royal Decree 47” of 19 January 2007 which regulates the basic procedure for certifying the energy efficiency of new buildings. An energy-efficiency certificate of this type grants its holder the right to display the energy-efficiency label for the period indicated which, in the case of the Disseny Hub Barcelona building in Glòries, is valid until June 2022.
One of the hallmarks of the new Disseny Hub Barcelona building is its connection to the DISTRICLIMA heating-and-cooling urban electrical-supply network.
