In a time where everything is disposable...where almost everything is fast consumption and waste, and then return to consume and discard ; where the construction is liable to spend about 65% of natural resources , 40% of the energy and generate 50% of the total residues of the planet. The amount of energy required for heating industrial furnaces to produce cement, steel, lime, ceramic, glass, aluminum, etc.. is added the amount of energy required for the construction, plus that required to transport materials from one continent to another and finally, the energy consumed in buildings.
We propose an alternative reuse of waste materials and recovery, as an individual and collective challenge; as exploration of possibilities to mitigate that impact environmental damage described.
A kind of alchemy takes place then, to turn that ignored material that debris/obstruction, the main protagonist of the work, materials resurrected from the dead, reborn so vigorously in complicity with light rewrite a story full of dignity and optimism...
The commission consists of a hybrid space; home/workshop room/work life/livelihood; where each part can operate independently or as a single piece....an urban productive unit.
The project arises from the complete dismantling and demolition of an existing building (bricks, timber, tiles, shingles, vents, electrical and plumbing fixtures, etc..), Leaving some walls standing and using these materials fully recovered in new developments. In the case of the brick, implicitly assuming the porosity using these recovered materials without selection ; why assume the work with the idea of a freehand drawing thick lines as a Sketch; intentionally failing to "good ending".
Identify existing walls with plaster and color ; revealing new porous skin. Rehearsed criteria bioclimatic architecture; proposing breathing pores in hollow brick common, embedded in walls and slabs for natural air circulation, facing the prevailing winds; reducing the use of air conditioner. These pores also projected light mosaics on the floor, as the day progresses, marking the pass of time in the space.
Using the low windows for capitation of fresh air and the upper ones to expel the heat air, we renovated the air constantly with a natural extraction system. We also propose a retractable light diffusing panels for double daylight rebound plates and roof, which reduced the use of artificial illumination during the day.
Unable to cut tempered glass recovered, embedded it in floors and walls, adjusting as needed. For woodwork were used packaging waste, pallet type. The vast majority of the lighting fixtures were reused from the demolished building.
The total cost of the project is $ 13.000 per 140 m2, which is much less than half the cost of a traditional construction in Paraguay.
The building has a double meaning in his image; by its hermetic condition, by day absorbs surrounding vegetation by shade, as a projection screen that mutates along hours ; by night under the influence of light, vibrating skin and pores cast shadows breathing mode lines as if it were a Sketch...
