Casa de vila
This house in a quiet private street in the middle of a busy neighborhood is like an oasis. A mother of two grown children wanted a place to live, work and welcome friends. The result of these dreams was translated into a residence with well demarcated uses, while permeable and fluid.
The house consists of three blocks: the frontal one is the flower studio, where she works, with independent access, and also a direct link to the house. The middle block, the one with two floors, is the residence itself, with an open kitchen to living room, office, half bath and laundry area on the lower floor, and two bedrooms upstairs, sharing a closet in common. The last block, located at the rear of the property, is to receive friends, with barbecue and a TV room. These blocks are separated by gardens and connected by a deck that runs through the lot, from the sidewalk to the third block, connecting inside and outside and determining an horizontal axis.
In a plot of 400m ², we chose to build only 265m ², saving a good area for garden and patios. The implantation of the house looked for the best sun, wind and permeability.
The metallic structure and drywall walls allowed for a quick and clean construction. The staircase with itsclamped steps seems to fly. Large frames allow, when desired, the interconnection between the blocks. Between studio and kitchen windows are more discreet, ensuring adequate privacy.
The second floor consists of two large boxes, a coated wood, which is the mother's room, and the other painted in gray, which is the daughter’s room. From the double height living room, you can realize these two boxes. We opted to put green roof on the first and last blocks, as they are seen from the dorms.
Another aspect considered were the dogs of the house. The service entrance gives access to the inner courtyard and laundry, so that, when desired, they are isolated.
