[PARIS] River Champagne Bar
[AC-CA] Competition
CONCEPT: The new bar will bring the people towards the water; inside the bar one can sip a glass of wine while enjoying the sunset on the Seine or swim in the swimming pool enclosed within the bar. Indeed the new bar creates an internal water plaza and floats on the river water so that the people can feel on the water and in the water.
The project not only is a bar but also functions as a connecting point between the Bateaux mouches Louvre stop and the city. The roof level can work both as a terrace to be used by the bar or as a bridge that brings the people on the boat directly to the road level.
ACCESS this is granted both from the lower promenade level and from the above road level. Access can always be controlled and if needed the bar can close the road level access transforming the above bridge between the boat stop and the road into a beautiful terrace with 360 degrees view on Paris. The cars, pedestrian and disabled can easily access the bar from the lower level using both the existing ramp and stone staircase.
FLEXIBILITY the bar can be adjusted according to needs. The lower part towards the riverbank can be closed with sliding glasses during winter or rainy days but can remain totally open during summer. The V.I.P area can be isolated if needed and the above roof level can be used both as a bridge and a private terrace. The element placed inside the central water plaza (swimming pool) can be used as an outside bar during the day and as a stage for bands to play and people to dance on if needed.
STRUCTURE the bar will be a floating element that is very simple to construct. The bar is all in reclaimed wood that has a low environmental impact, very high resistance to water and is low and cheep in maintenance. The façade is obtained using old bottles of Champaign that are placed one on top of the other on a steel cable. These bottles will shimmer when touched by light and vibrate to the sound of the wind. The swimming pool is obtained by using a strong membrane that is not invasive and is easy to place.
