Location: Plaça del Mar
Design: ETH Zürich & Urban-Think Tank (Switzerland/Venezuela) With the collaboration of ESARQ (UIC)
“Our EUROPE installation in cooperation with ESARQ (UIC) is based on the concept of the children’s game of XARRANCA (hopscotch), a hopping journey through multiple squares towards the ‘cel,’ the sky. The XARRANCA pavilion is a three dimensional representation of this journey — a sequence of individual moments along a linear framework that forms the collective experience. Europe is this uniting framework, the context that allows for both the celebration of differences and the erasure of boundaries, through a transformational journey ending in the sea, the connector between cultures.” ETH Zürich + Urban-Think Tank

ESARQ-UIC sets out to train architects who have a clear international vocation, critical spirit, creative capacities and knowledge of both current and new technologies; individuals who are involved with society and prepared to face the challenges of the future.
To achieve this, ESARQ offers its students personalised support in an international environment, teaching architecture as a service to society, fostering creative talent alongside technical skills, generating synergies with the industrialisation of the construction sector, and working to give students access to a diverse and international range of employment opportunities.
