Casa Txai
This single-family holiday's residence in Itacaré, Bahia, Brasil, was clearly inspired by the vernacular way of constructing buildings at this region known both as “Cocoa Coast” and “ Discovery Coast”.
Lack of pigmentation and varnish coatings;and being predicted and sought for aging and oxidation effects are the key elements that define the natural appearance of the house.
Located 60 metres from the sea and built using Dry construction techniques, the architectonic aesthetic was submitted for approval to the Iphan (National Historic Patrimony Institute) and to the Ibama (Brazilian Institute of the Environment), and is characterized by the exhibition of functional and structural mechanisms.
The continuity between each of the spaces is the contemporary point of the design: Indoor, outdoors, floating runaways, all of them appear in a sequence along a single axe. Unframed large sliding glass panes provide constant visual integration of the surrounding landscape allowing the interiors to be bathed by abundant natural tropic light.
The sleeping rooms are integrated with the bathrooms, with only the toilettes as closed areas.
A huge custom-made aluminum bathtub and separated sinks for each member of the couple are the elements that define the space.
