Office Building and Warehouse at Temse
A new office building and warehouse for the local authority of a Belgian town Temse.
The design of the office building and warehouse in Temse starts from a pure functionality of the building on the one hand, a machine à travailler, and from a unique setting on the other, a terrain with a small front side.
The requirement of a large hall, on one side with gates made of steel and wood led the design in a certain direction: a building wih a footprint of 20 by 100 meters with a distinct architectural personality.
The large hall is combined with an office corner on the head of the building. The offices are, in contrast to the warehouse-wing with his strong horizontal character, as compact as possible using principles of low energy consumption. The sober façade of the volume is caracterised by concrete, glass and large gates made of steel and a wooden finish. In this case the façade create a strong image on the outside and a spatial effect on the inside. The limited choise of materials with their specific characters define the office building and warehouse as a monolithic form.
The building is designed in 2010 and constructed in 2011-2012.
