« Parking Complet » is an easily removable wooden structure which occupies exactly the area covered by one parking lot. The project enhances the temporal density of that kind of spaces that are very present in the city scape. The structure is framed on the Euro-pallet dimensions with a shelves system that are bolted on. Its typology allows many usages. The 9 squared metres of a parking lot enable us to take a break, to have lunch, to do some craft work, some gardening etc.
Located « place du parlement », it occupies a historical spot of the city and an important square that is an emblem for the city of Rennes. In such a context, it is the picturesque aspect of a wooden shelter that creates the surprise for pedestrians ; it is this surprise that involves and allows the discussion to happen. The will is to give an open place to people. The human scale of the projects contrasts with the monumental scale of the square and helps citizens to meet easily. It is a place for sharing with many purposes, the discussion takes place around these activities ; we can share knowledge, help neighbours : do things that are nowadays difficult within cities that are more and more regulated.
Even if it is mainly a tool that questions the public space in this context, we could also think about a more private use in residential areas and collective housing lots. The wooden-shelter would then occupy a parking lot that is allocated to someone who is not using it. By replacing an unused car by this structure, the project would become some king of extension of the housing, a terrace, a workshop, a small urban farm...
