Concept description HYPERCUBUS
Mobile hotel room for 2 people
Named after the mathematical hypercube shape, the Hypercubus is a mobile hotel room, developed for the tourism industry. Essentially, the project reinterprets the “hotel” concept.
The concept of the Hypercubus is based on three fundamental principles:
- the use of open areas with available infrastructure (alternatively also self-sufficient)
- the construction of small modular living units that are transportable
- the creation of a new concept in tourism (the prepaid apartment) with a uniform corporate design.
The Hypercubus offers a new solution to cities with differences in the rush of visitors due to seasonal variations or events, national parks without destroying the environment, places where only the hypercubus can be used as accommodation e.g. due to environmental reasons or the autarchial system of the Hypercubus.
The Hypercubus is an energy efficient and fully equipped house on 3 levels with minimum space requirements (only 25 m2). The principle component of the movable building is made of timber, which is a sustainable and ecological material, moreover, a renewable resource in many countries. According to the power supply and wastewater system there are two different possibilities to choose either the autarkical version (independent from any infrastructural conditions) or the conventional connection with a general supply network.
The original Hypercubus is coloured blue. However, individual customer wishes are no problem. Also the interior can be adapted individually. Furthermore, the Hypercubus is designed in such a way that it can be totally independent technically; installation can be temporary and several Hypercubus units can be grouped into clusters.
Transport is straightforward, meaning that Hypercubuses can be used on a seasonal basis and according to demand, moving around according to where they are most needed.
The Hypercubus was already part in different exhibitions around Austria, installed in public spaces to demonstrate its real-life suitability and practicability
