Engineering Sciences Research Centre "Lion"
In the central area of the technical college the IFG Engineering Sciences Research Centre is being constructed. In the future the brick building will house the Bremen Institute for Applied Radiation Technology (the BIAS) with its four core elements: simulation, materials, processing and system technology.
Three elements characterise the new construction: The basement with its free play of openings as well as two golden volumes formed out of a column-free experimentation hall and a two-storey high office wing. The experimentation buildings is equipped with a high degree of technical installations, and can be roughly divided into office, laboratory, workshop and hall areas, all functionally connected with each other. The refelction of the golden metal façade suggests the inner function of the new building: research - the discovery of the unknown.
