Loft Art Living
In the heart of New York’s art & design district,in Soho, Matteo Fantoni Studio is breathing new life into the 4.5m loft space of a historic building, by creating this luxurious multi-purpose apartment. Originally a police headquarters, this building has undergone many transformations and renovations.
MFS design objectives were driven by Client’ desire to have a working living space of outstanding architectural design where they could reside whilst using the space to develop and grow their passion for art . Arranged over two levels this loft space is planned to reflect a particular way of living, incorporating dynamism and sophistication. The lower level is dedicated entirely as the art & design area, whereas the upper level is reserved as the private living area.
To satisfy the client’s requirements ,Matteo Fantoni Studio created the utilities cube. Essentially the heart and soul of the apartment, the utilities cube is a carefully and ergonomically planned space that tightly packs together all the essential facilities that enable the social, business and living functions of the apartment to take place. The utilities cube spans both levels and is concentrated within the central area of the two levels which, whilst freeing the space from traditional divisions, creates width, breadth and a tremendous amount of flexibility. With energy efficiency in mind, the utilities cube interacts excellently with both natural and artificial light.
A real connection with art & design, functionality and environmental considerations make this loft space a “Unique” living and working experience.
