Municipal Building in Bordeaux
The city of Bordeaux wishes to merge its services to welcome the public. Located on a site adjoining the Mériadeck district, the building is a stone’s throw from Bordeaux’s town hall, the historic Palais Rohan.
The proposal has been developed by Paul Andreu architecte paris, with Richez Associes. It is made up of a lower, stone clad volume which acknowledges the old city. Internally the volume is organized around a lofty atrium which welcomes the public. The second volume is superposed on the lower, white and smooth it shifts and floats. Cantilevering over the lower volume, the building the building induces dialogue with Mériadeck and creates a new addition to the skyline.
As a whole the building offers each representative office space with natural daylight and a view over the city for which they work.
