Social Housing in Mieres
It is necessary to address the project to the study of functional conditions of the housing unit. The proposal sets out a dwelling protected by two galleries, and free in its interior. Mechanical and wet spaces appear together building a technique "wall" which allows cross ventilation and versatile spaces. The galleries, an intermediate space, interior and exterior, warm in winter and cool in summer, recover significative traditional North Spanish architecture gestures.
A new housing that is geared to landscape views and light, and protected from the noise.
STRATEGY
01_Urban facade: the arrangement of the blocks creates a continuous urban front.
02_Double orientation: houses have two facades; this provides comfort and energy saving through the whole year.
03_Insolation: Mieres is a dark, rainy place. All apartments trend to catch as much sun as they can, gearing up to most sunny orientations. Galleries act as a catcher of light and sun.
04_Green carpet: Discontinuous ground floor areas generate a green carpet that connects building courtyards and surrounding green areas.
05_Two faces: south, east, and west facades look to capture sunlight and the glass surface increases, while to the north, to prevent heat loss, windows are protected.#socialhousing
