Exhibition "Leon Gimpel (1873-1948)", Paris, Musée d'Orsay
Previous to our design stays the consideration that Gimpel’s "sense de l’image" is incredibly contemporary. We felt Gimpel as a contemporary artist and wanted to transmit to the public this sensation going through an un-nostalgic and un-mimetic set.
A further definition came with the character of the objects to be exposed: the autochromes were a medium not meant to be shown if not through projection. The curatorial decision to show directly these small and delicate glasses obliged to a very reduced back lighting. The design decision was to show them in a plexiglas continuum underlining the aesthetical "unit of intentions".
