Restaurant Salt
SALT, the latest addition to the W Barcelona hotel located on the seafront promenade.
Almost 900 m2, it is made up of three different but connected features: a terrace with a
restaurant and lounge, a space dedicated to corporate and private events, and a beach club
with direct access to the sea.
Inspired in the reflections and textures of its backdrop of the sea, SALT draws on the
design concept of the W Living Room, the hotel’s lobby area, with many clever nods to the
exotic ecosystems of the seabed teeming with fish, seaweed, corals and even plankton.
The result of the interior design is a fresh and modern image, with a certain touch of
sophistication and glamour, which gives this lively and colourful space its personality, with
an eye on the future and innovation – the W brand’s distinctive hallmark.
The inside and outside flow together thanks to the continuity marked by the colours and
reflections bathed by the Mediterranean, and boundaries become blurred to envelop the
whole design in the ever-present water. Thus, visitors can enjoy impressive views of the
beach of Sant Sebastià and La Barceloneta wherever they sit in SALT, which makes them
feel that they are always outdoors.
A common thread brings together the terrace (150 m2) and the events’ area (almost 500
m2), which leads to the hotel from a stairway right into the foyer.
This area, which also has a terrace, can also be accessed directly from the seafront
promenade. The finishes and furniture create an ambiance full of energy and creativity,
thanks to the combination of materials such as fine hardwoods and brass, with other more
unusual ones such as iron sheeting and geodesic shapes or the specially textured glass, all
of which evoke plant and sea life. A mirrored false ceiling, flashes of light and gloss
features enrich a truly avant-garde atmosphere.
The lighting is a feature not to be missed. The continuous LED strips – used in the
restaurant and the events’ area –and the garland of lanterns that shine a great cloud of
light over the bar on the terrace restaurant make the space extremely luminous and eyecatching
from the Barceloneta promenade. The same festive lighting has been used in the
SALT Beach Club located just a few metres away from the terrace restaurant.
Standing just in front of the sea, it has capacity for more than a hundred people, and counts
with a thirty-odd armchairs that are reminiscent of a chill out area.
Blues, turquoises and the marriage of black and white predominate in all the spaces to
match the furniture in various shades of green with a spattering of gold and glitter that
recall the surface of the sea. Sculpted shapes, watery textures and reflections, and the total
communion with the outdoors “immerse” visitors in the concept of the space.
