Housing and office building in Málaga
The building, designed by Jerónimo Cuervo González at the end of 19th century, is located at the heart of Malaga’s city centre, on the corner of Liborio García and Nueva streets.
It is a complex project where rehabilitation and restoration actions are included and superimposed, attempting to provide the building with an internal coherence and to introduce a new architecture based on the historical memory of the original building.
The Project recuperates the Málaga nineteenth-century architectural layout with rooms around a central patio. Supports, floor structures, woodwork and staircase are respected, and the façades are, naturally, preserved intact.
The small patios surrounding the main one were joined, thus redistributing the space in the original floor plans so as to create one large space, generously illuminated by natural light.
Priority is given to the houses, placing them on the façade, which helps to revitalize the city centre.
