The solution was the winner of a contest held by the Town Hall of Mairena del Aljarafe (Seville) for the Interchange Complex, Offices, Hotel and Retail associated with the subway station of Seville.
This project aims to create a new urban center in Mairena del Aljarafe, Seville. In this fashion vehicular traffic is segregated and routed beneath ground, liberating a large public space on the surface for leisure, work and commercial activities. The complex consists of low level structures and two polygonal shaped towers that
reinforce their height and favor a unifi ed image of the whole complex.
Creation of a new Public Space, revising the concept of the plaza and its significance in the urban fabric of the new cities.
For it, the roof of the Interchanger will serve as the base for a park exclusively for pedestrian use, that connects and unifies the different happenings that occur around the lot, offering an alternative of leisure activities outdoors.
The principal strategy of the occupation of the Interchanger is situated in the facade that faces the main street and takes advantage of the natural topography of the site, and is partially covered by a deck that serves as a base for a park, that connects andunifies the different happenings that occur around the lot, offering an alternative of leisure activities outdoors.
