arquitectura911sc in collaboration with Higuera+Sánchez were chosen to make an enlargement for the Centro Cultural de España (CCE). The CCE has being occupying for several years an old building of the XVII century. The new project will be annexed to this one from its foundations layings fulfilling the ample list of operative necessities that the culture center requires
The project consists of seven plants with different programs according to the level, of which two are cellars with functions on service and storage. The other five levels are over the sidewalk level lodging in the ground floor an area called "space x" which fulfills one of the most important functions of the center: designed to accept any format or representation of the art, mainly in music and scenic representation a space whose main exigency is the flexibility.
There will be an inner street called "passage CCE" that besides relating "space x" to the outside it will have the function to connect the streets of Guatemala and Donceles, also will give access to the building once the project is finished. .At the same time this passage promotes the use of the facilities and favours crossing the apple. It has 12 ms of height and counts with mezzanine for public, a technical floor from where all the operations of illumination, sound and theater mechanics are made.
The subsequent levels are occupied by a gallery of 20 x 14 meters and 5m of height occupying a plant in its totality, it was designed to accept almost any format of art, both following levels are destined to the formation programs such as rooms of seminaries, the room of cinema is in the last plant.
