House In Senri Nt
The site is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, facing a road on two sides. The building is arranged in an L-shape, surrounding four parking space which was provided on owners request. This building was designed by taking into consideration of views from the outside and the inside. By erecting a single wall along the 1.5m setbacks established on all four sides of the site, the approach space is effectively isolated from the parking space. The approach space defined by this wall awakes an awareness of horizontally extending space and gives anticipation of next spatial sequence. Furthermore, This wall has the secondary role of regulating the background views from the living room. Moving through the approach into the parking space, of which can also be turned into an extended courtyard when not in use, one can enjoy a sense of openness as well as a sense of concealment and safety. Going into the entry hall from the porch, visitors are greeted by double height entry hall. In the entry hall, one can sense a spatial link to the upper level. Also in between the dining room on the lower level to the children's room on the upper level, presence of the others can be sensed throughout. The spaces are connected continuously between the rooms and outside.
The Skylights installed alongside in the entry and the dining room gently permeates soft light from above, giving the impression of vertically extending space. The pictures of ever changing sky is continuously portrayed into the interior; When the sun appears in a gap between clouds, when the wind sweeps away light clouds, when the bird crosses the sky... When evening falls, the light of the lowering sun illuminate the surface of the white wall into slightly tinted blue just for a moment. And the nighttime scene slowly becomes apparent to ones senses. Throughout each day, the light gives a rich expression to the spaces, and gently engulfs everything within them.
This rich ambience manifests beautiful phenomena, including soft light, sharp light, fresh breezes, fluttering leaves, objects and people. These daily experiences and discoveries further lead to the construction of a new sensibility and a richer life for the inhabitants.
